After 13 years serving as both the head football athletic trainer and director of sports medicine at Kansas University, Murphy Grant said his farewell. A new community of enthusiastic sports fans welcomed him to the team at Wake Forest University, located in Winston-Salem, NC as the college’s Senior Associate Athletic Director/Athletics Healthcare Administrator.

"We are thrilled to welcome Murphy Grant to our Wake Forest athletics leadership team as senior associate athletics director and athletics healthcare administrator," announced John Currie, the director of athletics at Wake Forest. "His experience in both athletic training and strength and conditioning, and his lifelong commitment to the health and safety of student-athletes make him the perfect choice to lead our sports performance team."

Grant brings 18 years of NCAA Division I athletic training experience to his new role where he will lead a committed team of 32 athletics healthcare professionals. Tory Lindley, President of the National Athletic Trainers Association said this about the move: "For years the NATA has valued Murphy Grant for his skillful leadership and ability to empower others in an incredibly positive way. Murphy will advance healthcare and athlete performance at Wake Forest beyond their expectations while proudly representing his new University on a national and international stage.”

There is no doubt that Grant will continue to raise the bar in athletics performance therapy while at Wake Forest. Former KU football coach Mark Mangino tweeted, “Congratulations to Murph! He is the best in the country. Great guy & family man too. Wake Forest landed a leader in his field!”

“I want to thank the University of Kansas and Kansas Athletics for the opportunity given to me back in 2006,” said Grant. “The staff is amazing, and KU and Lawrence will always be a part of my life.”
